LADYSOFT MAKES A VIRTUAL MARCH  AGAINST VIOLENCE TOWARDS WOMEN

  • One in 3 women has been a victim of some form of violence by her partner
  • The invitation is to upload photos of posters made by the participants or customize a poster on the website LaViolenciaSiEsUnTema.pe
  • The event will have Magdyel Ugaz as spokesperson and other public figures such as Erika Villalobos and Daniela Camaiora will join.

Lima, October 02, 2020 .- Ladysoft, the feminine care brand of Softys, a hygiene and personal care products company, will hold a virtual march called “The rule is not a topic, violence does” this October 02, in which the day of Nonviolence is commemorated internationally. The initiative will be developed through a platform that will be especially created for thousands of users to participate through virtual posters.

Ladysoft, in line with the purpose of caring for women and accompanying them at every stage of their lives, seeks to raise awareness about the situation of violence experienced by many women in Peru.

According to ENDES and INEI, 32.2% of women have been victims of a form of physical and/or sexual violence by their spouse or partner. As a result of the state of emergency due to coronavirus, cases of domestic violence have increased significantly, only until May 2020, 12 femicides and 226 rapes have been registered, including 132 minors. On the other hand, line 100 of the MIMP has recieved 28,000 calls for violence, and more than 3,000 people have been arrested.

Considering that the new normal prohibits crowds of people, and therefore marches also, Ladysoft has created a new way of raising our voice for just causes like this, from our homes. This October 2, International Day of Non-Violence, the invitation is to virtually join the march, men and women, to show that all of Peru is committed to changing the situation of gender violence. For Ladysoft, the rule is not an issue, violence is.

Tiago Tenreiro, Ladysoft brand manager tell us “Ladysoft is a brand that seeks to empower women, who live their lives full of trust and in a context of security, that is why as a brand we want to join in creating awareness against violence. In addition, we believe that we must work in order to something as natural as the female period becomes normal, because the period is not an issue, and that women focus their efforts on developing all their talents and motivations.

During that day and previous weeks, you can participate by following 3 simple steps:

  • Enter the web www.laviolenciasiesuntema.pe
  • Write the text of the message that would go on the virtual poster
  • Enter your name and photo (optional)

The virtual posters created by all participants will be broadcast on October 02 at 5:00 PM on the main digital screens in Lima, and on Ladysoft’s social networks. In addition to having the presence of Magdyel Ugaz as spokesperson, other public figures such as Erika Villalobos and Daniela Camaiora will participate.

Although the march has a main focus on gender violence, the call considers protesting against all forms of violence. In this turbulent time in which we live, violence manifests itself in many ways, from the destructive consequences of the climate emergency to the devastation caused by armed conflicts, the indignity of poverty, the injustice of the violations of the human rights or the brutalizing effect of hate speech.

In both online and traditional media, detestable rhetoric is used against minorities and anyone who fits the description of the “other.” To address this growing problem, the United Nations has launched two urgent initiatives: an action plan against hate speech and another on the protection and security of religious sites. Last week, I also made a global call to launch a decade of action in support of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, that show us the way for to move away from violence and closer to peace, prosperity and dignity on a healthy planet.
